Jeffrey Denning

Jeffrey Denning is a former noncommissioned and commissioned military officer. He holds a master’s degree in military special operations and low-intensity conflict with an emphasis in terrorism and a second master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He has worked as a contractor with the State Department where he protected US diplomats in support of the US-led “Roadmap to Mideast Peace” in Israel and Palestine. He retired from the Salt Lake City Police Department where, among other things, he worked as a peer support leader, a hostage negotiator, and captain of the shooting team. He has volunteered for several years on the executive board of the Utah CISM Team, helping emergency responders with debriefings following critical incidents. As a specialist in crisis response and peer support, and the owner of First Responders First, he has developed and taught classes throughout Utah and other states. He published his first book, Warrior SOS—Military Veterans’ Stories of Faith, Emotional Survival, and Living with PTSD, after a military tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
